Mother – parenting method

By littlesweetfish No comments

My mother was not overly strict with us, but she rarely praised us or encouraged us, either. She never prodded us to do homework, to achieve higher academically, or to aim to become a particular professional.

Her way of discipline was to leave us until we got up on our own feet. She took me shopping in a department store. I was about four years old. As she browsed around clothes, my feet started to hurt and demanded to be picked up. I could simply not go on walking after her, who kept wandering around the women’s fashion floor, between one hanging rail to another. I finally sat down and sobbed because her ignoring my needs hurt my feelings. She was unhappy and was cross with me. Eventually, I got myself up and followed her as the shop staffs’ pitiful eyes were more unbearable than my mother’s indifference.
